WEEK 1 - ** NEW ** Action Movie Film Making (June 22- June 26)
Lights, Camera, iPad!
You don’t need a Hollywood studio to tell a great story—you just need the device in your pocket. At our Mobile Filmmaking Camp, campers learn how to turn an iPad into a professional film studio. From the first page of the script to the final "Export" button, we teach the technical and creative skills needed to create cinematic shorts, music videos, or action scenes.
The Director’s Workflow
We follow the professional phases of filmmaking to bring every camper's vision to life:
Pre-Production (The Script): Every great movie starts with a plan. Campers learn how to write a script, create storyboards, and scout locations around camp to find the perfect backdrop for their scenes.
Production (The Shoot): Using iPads as our primary cameras, campers master the "Cinematographer’s Secret." We cover the "Rule of Thirds," steady-cam techniques, and how to use external microphones to get crystal-clear audio.
Post-Production (The Edit): This is where the story comes together. Campers can choose their favorite tool—iMovie for classic storytelling or CapCut for high-energy effects and transitions.
Sound Design: Adding background music and "Foley" (sound effects) to bring the world to life.
Visual Effects: Learning how to use "Green Screens," text overlays, and color filters to set the mood.
Skills for the Big Screen
Beyond the technology, filmmaking is a masterclass in collaboration and communication:
Visual Storytelling: Learning how to "show, don't tell" through camera angles and lighting.
Time Management: Working against the clock to get all the "shots" needed before the day ends.
Constructive Critique: Learning to give and receive feedback during daily "Dailies" (viewing raw footage).
Leadership: Taking turns as the Director, Camera Op, and Talent to understand every role on a set.
FUN FRIDAY TRIP: (Optional)
We will ask campers where they want to go on Monday and will decide by wednesday. Options are endless with theme parks, Science centers, Zoos and more!
